Mr. Rodriguez is the Mariachi teacher at Southwest High School, with one of the largest programs in California reaching over 250 students. With 21 years of teaching and performing experience, he plays guitar, vihuela, guitarrón, guitarra de golpe, violín, trumpet, and some harp. Mr. Rodriguez is enthusiastic about arranging popular songs and helping students develop musicianship. He began his teaching career at Sunnyslope Elementary, then consulted at Montgomery Middle School prior to obtaining employment at Montgomery Middle School and Southwest High School. He is often found gigging with local San Diego Mariachi bands. Music is his passion and he is forever grateful for all the opportunities it has provided to encourage aspiring musicians.
